David Dart

Chair

David has lived in the Kiewa Valley since 1985 with his wife Rae, he has spent 40 years in the public health industry working in the areas of acute hospitals, aged care, general practice and primary care and almost 30 of those years at CEO level. He was the previous CEO of the Tawonga District General Hospital in Mount Beauty and the interim CEO of Alpine Health, working with the individual health agencies across the shire to form a shire based health service. David holds qualifications in health administration and is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

 

Nick Bennett

Vice Chair

Nick joined the community in Bright around 10 years ago, and loves the outdoors environment of our region. With young children, and working from home, Nick knows the value of having great childcare and the wonderful staff who take care of our children, allowing us all to work while they learn. A background in Engineering and Management provides another diverse background to the ACS Board.

 
 
 

Dennis o’Keeffe

Dennis is a result focused Executive and Consultant with more than 30 years’ experience in senior finance, general management, and consulting roles. He is the former Manager Corporate at Alpine Shire Council and was CFO at the City of Port Phillip. Leading teams successfully through change management and rapid growth are key strengths. Organisations that he led and contributed to have experienced significant revenue growth and sustained profitability.
Specialties include staff recruitment and development, integration of acquisitions, implementation of new technology platforms and liaison with regulatory authorities.

 

Katarina Chalwell

Alpine Shire Council Representative

Katarina Chalwell is a sixth generation resident who grew up in Wandiligong, completing Year 12 at Bright P-12 College. She is currently working as an Associate Adviser with a financial planning business in Bright and is the volunteer Treasurer for the non-for-profit Porepunkah Opportunity Shop, as well as operating a local small business. Katarina lives in Porepunkah with her husband and three boys. Outside of work, she enjoys socialising with friends and family, being outdoors, gardening and singing along to her favourite tunes and being a music and movies guru.

 
 
 

Brett Jordan

A resident of Wandiligong, Brett Jordan has been the General Manager of Bright Brewery since March 2022. Prior to this Brett worked as the Manager Facilities Alpine Shire Council for the past seven years and has been on the ACS Board since 2019. Prior to working at Alpine Shire Council, Brett had over 25 years’ experience at Regional and General Manager level within the leisure, entertainment, food & beverage and not-for-profit sectors. Brett’s management experience covers all aspects of sales, marketing, operations, business planning, budgets & reporting, and Company Director responsibilities.

 
 

HELEN HAVERCROFT

Alpine Shire Council Representative

As Director Customer and Community, Helen manages the Corporate, Customer Experience, Community Development and Statutory Planning and Amenity departments.

Helen has a joint honours degree in Geography and Archaeology from Nottingham University. While an interesting area to study, Helen eventually pursued a career in the UK with Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs, here she worked across a range of corporate tax compliance roles for over 10 years.

Helen moved to a role with the Local Council where she lived in the UK, then lead the administration of a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic.

Bringing this broad range of skills and experience to the Alpine Shire, along with her husband and young family Helen is looking forward to serving the community in which she lives.

 

cathy mcadam

Cathy is a consultant paediatrician employed as Service Director of General and Community Paediatrics at Monash Children’s Hospital.  She is now spending more and more time in Bright where she enjoys cycling, walking and meeting new people. After many years of experience in clinical work, service development and clinical governance, she aims to enhance her community leadership through this Board.  She is an alumnus of Williamson Community Leadership Program(2017) and recently graduated from the AICD Company Directors course(2023).  She is currently the President of the Monash Children’s Hospital School Council and hopes to apply her expertise and governance skills to early education at Alpine Childrens Services.
