15 hours of preschool by 2013..

Did you know?
The government is committed to increasing early childhood education up to 15hours for children for the year before they go to school by 2013.

The preschool program is to be delivered by a qualified early childhood teacher, in accordance with a national early years learning framework, for 15 hours a week, 40 weeks a year.

The program will be accessible across a diversity of settings, in a form that meets the needs of parents and in a manner that ensures cost does not present a barrier to access.

At the moment
Currently the number of hours of preschool education to children prior to full time schooling in the Alpine Shire varies, however it sits between 10.75 hours to 12 hours per week, 40 weeks per year.  In accordance with the governments planning process Capacity Assessment Reports for 2011 are being undertaken to determine the potential changes that are required for our services to implement universal access.
