Alpine Children's Services Board of Management

Alpine Children’s Services (ACS) is governed by a Board of Management (ACS Board). The ACS Board is made up of parent and community representatives and two representatives from the Alpine Shire Council. The ACS Board is responsible for overseeing the business and affairs of ACS and is involved with processes such as strategic planning, business planning, financial management, policy direction and compliance.

ACS’s General Manager, Jenny Griffiths, is responsible for the management, operations and administration of all centres and services managed by ACS as delegated and directed by the ACS Board. Jenny is also the ACS Board Secretary.

ACS’s Business Manager, Jeanette McLaren, is responsible for all finance and administration functions within ACS. Jeanette is also the ACS Board Treasurer.

Each ACS Centre and Service also has a Centre Coordinator, who is responsible for coordinating the day to day running of a centre (Alpine View, Lake View & Mountain View) or service (Outside School Hours Care & Family Day Care) managed by ACS.

General Manager

Jenny Griffiths - ManagerJenny Griffiths has a Bachelor of Science (Hons, Psychology) and has managed ACS for over 14 years. During this time ACS has grown in its breadth and quality of services. Jenny completed the Leading People program at the Bastow Institute. Jenny participated in the Alpine Valleys Community Leadership Program in 2015.

Parent Representative

Richare StrattonRichard Stratton and his family live in Mt Beauty. He, and wife Angela, have three children, of which the youngest currently attends Lake View Children's Centre's childcare and 3yo kindergarten programs. The older two, now school age, both attended the childcare and kindergarten programs at Lake View.

Richard has been involved with the parent committees at Lake View for five years, and is presently the Treasurer for the Family & Friends Group. Richard has been the primary carer of his children for the past eight years. Richard has a Bachelor of Engineering, with experience in design of process piping and vessels, and in computer simulated research of dense phase pneumatic conveying.

Richard is an active volunteer in the community, and in his spare time loves to be outside and active

Parent Representative

Prue DayPrue Day joined the ACS Board of Management to support her community’s services for young children and their families.

Prue’s work at the North East Catchment Management Authority contributes to strategy, evaluation and reporting. Previously she worked in local government, and for the (then) Department of Primary Industries.

Prue has qualifications in forestry, environmental science, rural systems management and project management.

Having grown up in Bright, Prue is enjoying a return to living in the North East. Prue’s daughter likes “seeing her friends” on her days at Alpine View, and her son is enjoying his prep year at Bright P-12 College.

Parent Representative

Victoria SchmidtVictoria Schmidt lives in Bright and is a parent representative for Alpine View where her 3 year old daughter participates in the bustling excitement of the Possums Room.

Victoria has run her own marketing consulting business for over 15 years and has an extensive background in the professional services and technology industries.  Victoria also works as a ski instructor at Mt. Hotham in the winter and enjoys bringing her family back to her hometown of Aspen, Colorado for occasional winters there.

Victoria’s other interests include cycling, mountain biking, tennis and surfing. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Bendigo Bank of Bright.

President

Julie TryhornJulie Tryhorn has two children, both attending Mount Beauty Primary School. Julie's two children attended Lake View Children's Centre and Julie is now a community representative. Before having children Julie was a management consultant in the Financial Services Industry for over 20 years and has extensive experience in business management, change management and governance. Julie is looking forward to her fourth year as President on the ACS Board of Management and having input into ensuring Children’s services in the Alpine Shire continue to meet the needs of each individual community ACS services.

Business Manager

Jeanette McLarenJeanette McLaren is the treasurer on the ACS Board of Management as part of the newly created position of Business Manager within ACS. She has had a varied career from research chemist, secondary teacher, outdoor educator, bookkeeper, to operations manager of a GP training program based out of Albury. She recently shifted back to Bright where she loves the lifestyle of the North East. She holds a Graduate Certificate of Business (Management), Bachelor of Science (Hons, Chemistry), Graduate Diploma of Education and Graduate Diploma of Computing. Jeanette will present the financial reports to the Board at the regular monthly meetings

Alpine Shire Council Representative

Heather GreenHeather Green is the Director of Sustainable Development with the Alpine Shire Councilor. Heather joined the ACS Board of Management in early 2015 and is looking forward to contributing to the development of early childhood services within the Alpine Shire.

Alpine Shire Council Representative

Tony KeebleTony Keeble has been a councilor for the past 6 years and represents the Alpine Shire on the ACS Board of Management. Tony also has four wonderful girls who have all attended Lake View Children's Centre in Mount Beauty. Tony is also the Principal of Outdoor School and is currently studying his PhD in the role of Education and Social Capital in rural communities in Victoria. He has a Masters in Education, a Graduate Diploma in Education and a Degree in Outdoor Education. He also started the joint service of the Mount Beauty Out of School Hour Care at Mount Beauty, Tawonga and Dederang Primary Schools. He was the Director of that service for four years while Principal of Mount Beauty Primary School. Tony has also completed a course in Early Childhood run by the DET (formally DEECD) and is a ‘Champion’ of Early Childhood for the DET. Tony enjoys everything the Alpine Shire has to offer.

Parent Representitive

Claire MackinlayClaire Mackinlay has three young children, two who are currently attending Lake View Children's Centre's three year old kindergarten and childcare programs.

Claire holds a Masters of Health Administration and Bachelor of Health Science and Commerce. Before moving to Mount Beauty, Claire managed state and national research projects aimed at improving health systems and health outcomes. Claire is passionate about improving the quality of services for the public and looks forward to utilising her skills and passion as a parent representative on the ACS Board.
